Laura Bertrand is driven to share her practical experience to inculcate a culture of everyday ethics
She started Everyday Ethics (Pty) Ltd to assist organizations on-board and embrace ethics in their everyday activities and behaviour.
Laura is an ethics practitioner with 11 years of specialized experience. She formulated, implemented and managed an ethics program for a global organization across Southern Africa, defining best practices shared across the group. During this time, she developed and managed company-wide awareness programs, whistle blowing and incident reporting capability, reporting framework in line with local legislation, as well as Anti-Fraud and Corruption prevention programs. She also briefed and managed forensic agencies, and provided oversight and reporting on investigations to the Board’s Social and Ethics Committee.
Her corporate experience was gleaned at Anglo American Corporation, Peat Marwick Mitchell, Edgars, Anglo Alpha Limited and Total South Africa.
Over her career, Laura has consistently strived to deliver meaningful value across functions, in diverse roles ranging from Company Secretary, to senior management positions in Policies and Procedures, Purchasing, Change Management, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Anti-Corruption Compliance and Ethics Management.
Laura knows how to successfully liaise and engage with internal stakeholders at every level of seniority, from junior employees to executive levels, as well as Board members. She has solid experience in working with local and international Ethics organizations, including The Ethics Institute, London based Good Corporation and the Danish Institute for Human Rights. She also has experience in working with the Monitor appointed by the United States Department of Justice, as part of anti-corruption and risk frameworks.

Laura is an associate of the Institute of Marketing Management, a Chartered Secretary, a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Ethics Officer.
She is currently part of the Task Team driving the establishment of the Ethics Practitioners’ Association – soon to be the professional body recognizing ethics practitioners’ in Africa.
